The depressurization of the Urengoy-Pomary-Uzhgorod gas pipeline in the Poltava region on January 9, 2021 did not affect the operation of Ukrainian gas facilities. This was reported by the press service of Naftogaz.
"The entire system of underground gas storage facilities is operating normally. Ukrtransgaz is ready, if necessary, to change the mode of gas sampling at facilities in order to fully fulfill the order of its customers," the message says.
It is also noted that the obligation to transit natural gas from the Russian Federation to European countries will be fulfilled in full.
As we reported earlier, an explosion occurred on the Urengoy-Pomary-Uzhgorod gas pipeline in Poltava region, which is serviced by the "Operator of the Gas Transportation System of Ukraine" (Ukrtransgaz).
The explosion took place near the village of Kalaidyntsi around 16:00.
Local residents were warned that an emergency gas shutdown is possible. According to preliminary information there are no victims or injured. 40 people were involved in extinguishing fire. Repair teams are working at the scene of the incident. There is no danger for residents of neighboring settlements. Gas transit is also not in danger. The causes of the accident are still unknown.
