An explosion occurred near the place of stay of hasid pilgrims in Uman of Cherkasy region at night on September 21. As a result of the explosion, a 13-year-old teenager, an Israeli citizen was injured, police of the region reported.

The first deputy head of the National Police of Ukraine Vyacheslav Abroskin and deputy department head Oleksandr Fatsevich arrived at the scene.

"Today, on September 21, about 6 am, the Uman police department received a report of an explosion of an unknown object in garages near the mass Hasidic pilgrims' place of stay. The police was immediately alerted. The explosion damaged the roof of one of the garages and injured a 13-year-old teenager, an Israeli citizen, who has a cut on his left hand on the wrist. On-site medical assistance was provided, "the report said.

At the moment, the investigative group and explosive device experts are working at the site. Circumstances and persons implicated in the explosion are being investigated.

As it was reported earlier Hasid pilgrims from around the globe keep coming to Ukraine to celebrate the New Year according to the Jewish calendar. The town of Uman, Cherkasy, central Ukraine, will host them as about 30,000 Hasids will honor the memory of their spiritual leader Rabbi Nachman at his grave - on the eve of Rosh Hashanah.
