The final identification of this incident is made upon the part 4, article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - malicious hooliganism. Sergiy Knyazev, the Chief of the Ukrainian National Police reported this on June 8.

He noted that after the additional search of the place of occurrence on the territory of the US Embassy the police discovered the evidence of the criminal violation provided by the part 4, article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

'The item thrown on the territory of the Embassy was not able to harm anyone. According to this, we made a decision to classified this incident as the malicious hooliganism', Knyazev emphasized.

Also, he added that the supervision of the investigation is entrusted on the Chief Investigation Department and Department of the Criminal Investigation of the National Police. 

The Security Service follows clues of the terrorist attack for the objective research of the incident within the criminal proceeding.

The explosion took place on the territory of the US Embassy at night on June 8. Preliminary, the grenade was thrown on the territory.
