Police have opened a criminal case over an explosion in the Carpathians that killed two tourists and injured five others. This was reported by the press service of the Zakarpattia region police.

According to preliminary information, a shell from the First World War detonated by tourists while lighting a fire.

Earlier it was reported that four tourists were injured in the blast, but police say five people were hospitalized with injuries of varying severity.

As it was reported earlier, an explosion occurred on the evening of September 15, at Pid Berda valley, near Voronenko village during the lighting of fire by a group of 12 tourists in the Carpathians. As a result, two people died; four more sustained injuries.
