After the explosion in Beirut, 56 Ukrainians appealed to the Embassy of Ukraine to Lebanon for material aid, as Foreign Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba reported.
“Unfortunately, the fact of the death of a citizen of Ukraine was established. As of evening, August 12, the Embassy of Ukraine to Lebanon received 56 appeals from the citizens of Ukraine on receiving material aid due to the destruction of their houses and minor bodily injuries,” Kuleba stated.
The Embassy paid one-off financial aid to 16 citizens who suffered in the result of the explosion.
On August 4, the video of explosions in Beirut, the capital and the largest city of Lebanon, appeared on social media. The media reported that the number of deceased is at least 159 people, about 6,000 people wounded. The city's surroundings turned into ruins.
Later, the mass protests started in the city. On August 9, Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab, under protesters' pressure, agreed to hold early elections in the country.
