Explosion occurs at rally in support of Ethiopia’s PM

An explosion was fired at the rally for Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, as AP reports.

According to the message, the explosion occurred at Mesqel Square in Addis Ababa, where the newly elected PM was delivering a speech before thousands of his supporters.

When Abiy Ahmed finished his speech someone threw a hand grenade towards the rostrum.

The PM was not injured. Yet, the participants of the rally were wounded.

As Ahmed noted after the incident, “a few people” had been killed and others injured.”

“He called the blast a “well-orchestrated attack” that failed,” the news agency reports.

The responsible service is working on the site of the incident.

It should be noted that Abiy Ahmed took office at the beginning of April. Then, he implemented several political and economic reforms. One of his recent decision was the intention to fulfil the obligation of a peaceful agreement with Eritrea concluded in 2000.

It is worth mentioning that the military conflict with this country lasts for two years now.
