So, the election day is here. Ukraine is electing a president at the second round.

What is an exit poll?

The voting is absolutely anonymous. While leaving the polling station, one may be approached by an interviewer an offered to fill in the form and to indicate one’s choice. The form is also anonymous, as well as the voting ballot, and one has the right to refuse to fill it.

First, exit polls are held to predict results of elections before they are officially published. Second, exit poll bears a control function – over 4.5% discrepancies between exit poll and the results by the election committee may indicate falsifications, though they are not the direct evidence of election engineering.

Three exit polls shall be held in Ukraine on the election day.
