The first President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk agreed to head the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group on Donbas. This was reported by the press service of the President's Office.

“Naturally, I thought about it. But when I actually understood what is happening there, in Donbas, when our young boys and girls die there, defending the land, shedding blood, day and night defending the independence and sovereignty of Ukraine, despite the fact that I have already seen something in my life, gone through some things, it would be fine to have a rest - but the time for rest has not come yet. I have made a decision. If I can - and I want it - to do something to step up peace in Donbas, I will do it until my last breath,” Kravchuk said.

According to him, the Normandy meeting took place precisely because of the persistence, systematic actions and political will to convene the Normandy four.

“All of us need to unite. Ukraine, those European countries that really profess the principle of international law, the principle of sovereignty, independence, who see Ukraine fighting and suffering to defend their land. To unite within the country, including those who sees only some negative things in everything,” the first president added.

Earlier Representative of Ukraine in Minsk Leonid Kuchma has withdrawn from Trilateral Contact Group (TCG).

After that, Vice PM Reznikov took on to temporarily lead Ukrainian delegation in Minsk group.
