Former MP David Zhvania, who in 2014 was a member of Petro Poroshenko's entourage, said that through the then Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany Pavlo Klimkin he passed a bribe of 5 million euros to European officials for the support of Petro Poroshenko's candidacy for the presidency of Ukraine.
“I and Klimkin directly participated in the transfer of 5 million euros through the Ukrainian Embassy in Germany for one high-ranking European official at the time in order to ensure EU’s support for Poroshenko as a candidate for the presidency of Ukraine,” he said.
Ex-MP also told how Poroshenko, Turchynov and other Maidan leaders came to power in 2014. He called his former allies a “criminal group,” which, according to him, from the very beginning set the goal of seizing power for personal enrichment.
“We financed Maidan, we fueled protest sentiments in the media, thwarted the peace initiatives of the authorities, held separative negotiations with MPs of the Party of Regions, negotiated with foreign embassies. The group included Martynenko, Poroshenko, Turchynov, Klitschko. Each of them introduced their own groups. For example, Turchynov brought Pashynsky and Parubiy,” he said.
Zhvania assured that he was ready to testify to the investigating authorities on all these facts.
He also claims that Poroshenko became president as a result of the consensus of the oligarchs. Moreover, Poroshenko allegedly took on certain obligations to them, which in most cases he fulfilled. Only Ihor Kolomoisky was not involved in the transaction, according to Zhvania, the rest received their corruption quotas. At the same time, according to the politician, for Vitali Klitschko the mayor’s position was part of this deal.
“During his time in power, Poroshenko received about 4 billion dollars through corruption,” his former associate assures.
He also confirmed that he had filed a lawsuit with the Kyiv District Administrative Court to ban former leaders from leaving the country. And he did not withdraw this claim, as NABU (National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine) now claims, although Poroshenko and his entourage exerted strong pressure on him.
