Eurovision-2019: Ukraine’s National Television Company to broadcast contest

Eurovision-2019 kicked off in Israeli Tel Aviv. It will last till May 18.

Today, on May 14 first semi-final of the show will be held. Ukraine will not take part in it. Yet, Ukraine’s National Television Company will broadcast it. Ukrainians will not have a chance to vote for the competitors.

One can find the online broadcast on UA:First and UA:Culture and on the digital platforms of Suspilne – on the website and social media. Tymur Miroshnichenko will hold live broadcasted on You-Tube.

Eurovision-2018 winner Netta Barzilai will open the contest. She will perform with a new version of last year hit Toy. 17 competitors will perform in the first semi-final (from Cyprus, Montenegro, Finland, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Belarus, Serbia, Belgium, Georgia, Australia, Island, Estonia, Portugal, Greece, an-Marino). Only ten of them will enter the final of the competition on May 18.

As we reported, singer Anna Korsun (Maruv) would not present Ukraine at the song contest “Eurovision 2019”. Maruv said that she was forced to refuse from the participation in the contest from Ukraine due to her tour in Russia.

On February 27, it was reported that Ukraine will not send its representative to Eurovision-2019, which to be held in Israel. The reason was extensive politicization during the national selection. National Television Company of Ukraine will broadcast Eurovision 2019, which is going to take place in Tel Aviv, despite the decision of Ukraine to refuse from the participation in the contest. However, the Ukrainians will not be able to vote for the singers.
