The European Union (EU) expects that Russia to influence Donbas separatists in order to terminate the hostilities, Interfax-Ukraine News Agency reported citing the statement of the European authorities in Brussels.

"We expect that Russia will make full use of its influence on the separatists, who are supported by it, with the aim of immediate cessation of hostilities," the message reads.

Such actions were called by the European representative as "a blatant violation of the agreed ceasefire which gets acquired with a lot of risk to the civilians."

The EU believes that the full observing of the truce is the decisive step for the full implementation of Minsk Agreements as well as stable and peaceful settlement of the conflict.

The EU representative noted that they were aware of Zelensky's appeal to hold a meeting of the state leaders in the Normandy format.

"In this way, we again confirm our full support to the efforts related to the Normandy format, OSCE, and Trilateral Contact Group," they noted.
