The European Parliament has adopted the resolution with the recommendation to appoint EU Special Representative to Ukraine. The representative will deal with Crimea and Donbas issues, as Interfax-Ukraine reported citing the text of the resolution.
It is expected that the special representatives will be also responsible for the monitoring of the situation with human rights “in occupied territories,” implementation of Minsk Agreements, de-escalation in the region of the Azov Sea and protection of rights of internally displaces persons.
Earlier the Council of Europe stated that Ukraine’s authorities have to provide the right for internally displaced people from uncontrolled Donbas regions and occupied Donbas to participate in the elections.
Besides, the EU Ambassadors agreed on the sanctions against eight Russian citizens who are responsible for detention of 24 Ukrainian sailors as a result of a conflict in Azov Sea.
Moreover, 28 EU member states joined the so-called “Azov package” of sanctions against Russia.
