The European Commission (EC) received a complaint from Naftogaz against the actions of Gazprom, demanding that the Russian concern put up for sale to the European Union significant volumes of gas in transit through Ukraine as TASS reported citing EC Spokesperson for Competition Maria Tsoni.
“We have received this complaint, and we will evaluate it based on our standard procedures,” a representative of the European Commission said.
However, she declined to comment further on this issue.
On December 21, Ukrainian Naftogaz appealed to the European Commission with a complaint about the anti-competitive actions of Gazprom and asked the European Commission to "respond to violations."
On December 22, the price of gas futures in Europe surpassed $2,000 per thousand cubic meters against the background of cold weather and reduction of gas pumping by Russian Gazprom.
On December 21, it was reported that the peak gas price in Europe could reach $ 2,500-2,700 per thousand cubic meters.
