In case a long ceasefire is established in the Donbas, Europe should help Ukraine with the restoration of Donbas, German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel said, reports DW.

According Gabriel, such assistance is possible in case of establishing a long truce in the Donbas. He noted that Europe could help, for example, in restoring the water supply and sanitation systems.

In addition, the German official warned against the new arms race. "Instead of peaceful coexistence, there is a danger of a new arms race. We are moving to a new round of the arms race," the Foreign Ministry said.

Unlike the previous era, when such arms race was between Russia and NATO, this time it can involve the whole world, Gabriel warns. "Everywhere you look, they talk about building up weapons - in China, India, in the Pacific region, in America, in the regions of Africa," the German minister stressed.
