President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that he was not ashamed of the defeat of the Ukrainian national football team in the match with England in the quarter finals of the European Championship 2020. Zelensky posted his comment on the outcome of the match between the teams on his Facebook page.
"Not a single defeat will break Ukraine! The pain will pass, the wounds will heal, we will be strong enough to get up and move on! We are sorry, it hurts, but not ashamed! Ukraine ends this tournament in the top 8 strongest teams in Europe. We got a better result than France, Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal and many others," the head of state emphasized.
He expressed the hope that the Ukrainian national football team, having gained the most important experience in this championship, will definitely make their way to the 2022 World Cup.
As we reported earlier, Ukraine’s Euro 2020 journey came to a bitter end in Rome on July 3 as they were thrashed 4-0 by a ruthless England team.
The result sees Ukraine leave the tournament at their furthest ever point of progression at a European , the side having never before made it out of the group phase.
