Lead Spokesperson for EU Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Peter Stano stated that the EU supports the U.S. decision to introduce sanctions against Ukrainian oligarch Ihor Kolomoysky as Deutsche Welle reported.
“The EU supports the decision of the United States to introduce entrance ban for Mr. Kolomoysky for major corruption actions during his work as high-ranking official of Ukrainian authorities,” Stano said.
He noted that the EU sanctions regime against Ukraine has no ‘criteria that allows introducing sanctions against people responsible for corruption’.
On March 5, the United States announced public designation of oligarch and former Ukrainian public official Ihor Kolomoysky due to his involvement in significant corruption and imposed restrictive measures against him and his family.
Earlier, on August 6, 2020, the U.S. Justice Department accused Ukrainian oligarch Ihor Kolomoysky of stealing billions of dollars from a bank he once owned (Privatbank - 112 International) and laundering that money in the United States and all over the world.
