Not only Ukraine needs the membership in the EU and NATO but also these structures need to have Ukraine as a full-fledged member as 112 Ukraine reported citing President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko during his speech at forum “From Kruty to Brussels”.

“More and more West politicians understand that Europe will be in danger without membership of Ukraine in the EU, without membership of Ukraine in NATO. Not only Ukraine needs this membership, the EU and NATO definitely needs Ukraine to a full-fledged member of these structures,” Poroshenko said.

According to him, in 20-30s of the last centuries, the Ukrainian intellectuals wrote that the future process of the association of Europe would not be finished without entering of independent, sovereign, unified Ukrainian state; that Russia, which owned Ukraine at that moment, will always show the imperial ambitions and will try to subdue whole Europe.

“Historians and philosophers determined the role and place of Ukraine in Europe differently. Some of them said that the role of Ukraine is to be a bridge between the East and the West. Other talked about us as about “gates” of Europe. Someone called us “unexpected nation”,” the Ukrainian leader noted.
