Foreign Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba recommended the EU foreign ministers to prepare sectoral sanctions against Russia to deter its course for escalation in the east of Ukraine as Kuleba reported on Twitter.
“At the meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council, I informed the colleagues about the dangerous course of Russia for escalation. I offered the step-by-step action plan for deterrence of further escalation of the Russian Federation. The main element: the preparation of the new set of sectoral sanctions,” Kuleba stated.
According to him, targeted sanctions against Russia are not enough to deter its aggression against Ukraine.
As we reported, European Union foreign ministers met at a virtual conference on Monday, April 19 to reassess the bloc's options as Russia builds up its military presence at the Ukrainian border.
Besides, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell stated about the risk of the further escalation at the border of Ukraine, where Russia has deployed over 100,000 soldiers.
