EU calls Ukraine to step up journalist Sheremet’s murder investigation

European Union Ambassador in Ukraine Hugues Mingarelli called on the Ukrainian authorities to speed up the investigation of murder of journalist Pavlo Sheremet. This was stated in the message of the EU representative office in Ukraine.

"On the day of this tragic anniversary, I would like to once again urge the Ukrainian authorities to conduct a prompt and transparent investigation of this crime. It is necessary to find and bring to justice the perpetrators of such a gross crime, "Mingarelli said.

As it was reported earlier Pavlo Sheremet, the well-known Ukrainian, Russian and Belarusian journalist, was killed in Kyiv in July 2016; his car exploded as he was driving to work. Forensics found out that his car was wired; the police qualified the explosion as intentional homicide. Law enforcers consider the opportunity of the Russian trail in this case.
