Political issues have been the focus of recent Ukraine peace talks held on May 18 in Minsk, Belarus. However, safety issues in occupied territories of Donbas have not yet been settled, correspondent Valeriy Kalinovskiy informed in an interview to “112 Ukraine”.
“The EU and the USA push Ukraine to hold local election in occupied territories, however it’s still being hit by shelling, captives are still being detained and Ukraine still has no control over the border. Thus, it’s not easy to negotiate an election”, - Kalinovskiy said.
According to the correspondent, no considerable progress was reached during Minsk peace talks on May 18.
However, OSCE representative Martin Sajdik informed, that the number of ceasefire violations in the conflict area has been reduced significantly.
