Police and National Guard units are watching the capital’s center before the start of Equality March. Thus, cordon and metal walls were established at Volodymyrska Street 61B. Everything is closed near Shevchenko park.
The opponents of LGBT action are protesting in the Taras Shevchenko Park currently. Loud music can be heard between the speeches.
As 112 Ukraine correspondent reports, people opposing Equality March gathered near the part. "They are standing in line and planning to prevent the procession of action participants in this direction. There are about 200 people by my count."
Participants of the March of Equality are also standing in a row, they are spread out near the Teacher's House, according to the correspondent.
As police report, balaclavas and gas cartridges were found about 9:15 during searches of several young people by law enforcement officers. About 100 march opponents are continuously walking along the pedestrian crossing and formed a chain. Chicken eggs and zelyonka were also found near Universytet metro station during the check at police cordon.
Earlier it was reported by the Right Sector press secretary, nationalists blocked central streets of Kyiv to impede Equality March in the capital.
Human rights activist and LGBT activist Zoryan Kis commented on the message, saying that the march would not be cancelled. He urged to gather at Teacher's House at 9 a.m.
National Police representative also informed that around 5 thousand people will be taking part in the event, and it will be protected by 5 thousand law enforcement officers.
