Secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov stated that English should be a mandatory second language in Ukraine. Danilov stated this during the Ukraine 30 forum.

"Unfortunately, in 30 years we have not defined the Ukrainian language as the primary fundamental language of our independence. And the second question, unfortunately, in 30 years we have not understood the issue of English, which must be the second mandatory language in the country," Danilov stated.

According to the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, young people's knowledge of English is the key to the independence of the Ukrainian state.

Danilov believes that there are many people in Ukraine who teach English, but very few, those who really know and use it, so English "should be used from kindergarten, from school."

Earlier, President Zelensky said that the issue of the Ukrainian language is not urgent, as the language is fully protected.
