Shmygal has urged Ukrainians to stay home on the May holidays and Easter

The Cabinet of Ministers has extended the emergency situation and quarantine in Ukraine until June 30 as Ukraine’s PM Denys Shmygal reported.

“The government extends until June 30 the emergency situation. The emergency situation, first of all, concerns the bodies of state authority and their constant readiness to counteract pandemic. Meanwhile, it is one more reminder to all Ukrainians that we should stay cautious and careful. As this affects the health and life of our relatives,” Shmygal reported on Telegram.

Moreover, PM noted that the Ukrainians should pay special caution during the May holidays and Easter.

“On these days we urge people to stay home. Mass gatherings of people on Easter might lead to a new wave of incidence. Only our carefulness, observance of anti-epidemic rules, and vaccination can stop the virus,” Shmygal added.

Over the past day, on April 20, 12 162 new cases of coronavirus confirmed in Ukraine. In particular, 532 children and 326 health workers fell ill. 4 411 people were hospitalized; 429 died; 14 720 people recovered over the past day; 109 007 tests were carried out per day (in particular by PCR method - 46 746, by ELISA method - 17 235, express tests for the antigen to SARS-CoV-2 - 45 026).
