The elements of infrastructure are burning at the temporarily closed checkpoint Stanytsia Luhanska in Luhansk region. The situation is complicated due to the strong gusts of wind as the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported.

“Currently, at the checkpoint, the elements of infrastructure are temporarily damaged. The firefighters of the State Emergency Service arrived at the site, the border guards along with them assume all measures to localize the ignition,” the message said.

In its turn, Stanytsia Luhanska regional state administration noted that the fire from Stanytsia Luhanska spread to Donetska and Lomonosova streets along the checkpoint.

Thus, the wooden sheds are burning at the checkpoint.

“The units of the Emergency State and equipment for water supply involved,” the message said.

146 fires in 32 settlements observed in Luhansk region. The most large-scale fires occurred in forests of Novoaidar, Starobilsk, Popasnyansky and Stanytsia Luhanska areas.

Nine people died in the result of the fires; 14 people were hospitalized. About 1,000 citizens were evacuated.

Currently, there is a threat for 22 settlements due to the fire.
