Today, April 20, is the election silence in Ukraine before the second round of the presidential elections on April 21, under the article 57 of the Law on elections of the president of Ukraine.
According to the law, the electioneering campaign ends at 00:00 of the last Friday before the day of elections.
The agitation campaign before the second round of voting begins from the next day of appointing the elections and ends at 00:00 of the last Friday before the day of elections.
On this day, any election campaign is prohibited by law, and the voters can make a free of any influence choice.
The silence day doesn’t apply to the distribution of information of the election itself, calls to vote, explanations of the legislative rules and voting procedures.
The first round of the presidential elections took place on March 31, 2019 in Ukraine. After the processing of 100% of the protocols it was announced that Zelensky got 30,24% of the votes, Poroshenko has 15,95% and Tymoshenko gained 13,40%. The second round of the elections is appointed for April 21.
