The efficacy of the vaccine against coronavirus produced by Chinese Sinovac Company has proved to be lower than it is mentioned in the purchase contract as Health Minister of Ukraine Maksym Stepanov reported.
The efficacy of the vaccine makes only 50.38%, while in the purchase contract concluded between the company and the Health Ministry, it is noted that the efficiency of the vaccine should make not less than 70%.
Stepanov stated that Ukraine would refuse the supply of this vaccine if its efficacy remains less than 70% at the moment of supply. In such a case, the company should reimburse the funds allocated from the state budget.
Besides, the minister stated that it is planned to start the mass vaccination in Ukraine in February 2021. Soon, the ministry would like to sign agreements with other companies and producers of the vaccines against coronavirus.
As we reported, Ukraine signed the first contract with Sinovac Biotech for the supply of 1.9 million doses of coronavirus vaccine. Thus, the Ukrainian Health Ministry will purchase 1 million 913 thousand 316 doses at the price of 504 hryvnias (17.8 dollars) for one dose. However, Ukrainians will be vaccinated at the expense of the state budget.
