The Senate of the Netherlands will support the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union next week, on May, 30. This was announced by the Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte, reports Radio Svoboda.
“My prediction is that the Senate will support it next week. After that, the government of the Netherlands will be able to ratify the Association Agreement. This is to happen next week, on Tuesday. We held good debates concerning this issue and now we can vote and ratify it,” he said.
The ratification of the agreement is a positive thing for the EU, for Ukraine and also for Russia as it can help “stabilize the situation in the region”, Rutte also noted.
Earlier it was reported that Dutch Senate discussed the Association on May 23. The approval of the ratification by the Netherlands will be the last legal step which will open the way for the official launch of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement.
