Drone flies above Ukraine’s Armed Forces armory, security of military site reinforced

The operation of the unmanned aerial vehicle was recorded in a restricted area over one of the arsenals of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as the press office of the Ministry of Defense reports.

‘Yesterday, November 4, at 7:30 p.m., radars detected unlawful use of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) near one of the arsenals of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the restricted area. Electronic Warfare Division has immediately jammed the control radio channels of the UAV, which made it impossible its further operation,’ reads the message.

It is added that the administration of the facility has reinforced the duty shifts of the security of the arsenal, mobile patrols thoroughly examined the territory adjacent to the military unit.

The fact of unlawful use of UAV near the military facility was immediately reported to the Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police of Ukraine in their area of responsibility.

As was reported before, an explosion in the sixth armory occurred in Ichnia. The air-space within 30 km was shut down, traffic and railway movement were stopped due to the emergency situation. The Military Prosecutor’s Office of the Central Region opened a criminal proceeding on the case of explosions at the ammunition depot in Ichnia.

Ten demining groups were working on the territory of the ammo depot. 70% of the administrative territory was cleared. On October 11, the fire was completely eliminated.     

Over the past four years, it's been the fifth accident with the ammunition stocks in Ukraine exploding; the incidents took place in Balakliya (Kharkiv region), Svatove (Luhansk region), and Kalynivka (Vinnytsia region).
