Press Secretary of Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko Larysa Sargan stated that in fact, the U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch told the names from the “do-not-prosecute” list Lutsneko orally, there was no written list, as she wrote on Facebook.
The Press Secretary of Ukraine’s Prosecutor General claimed “translation challenges” of the interview for The Hill, when Lutsenko told about the list. According to her, it was about the “announcement” of the list.
“I have difficult personal relationships with the Ambassador. Unfortunately, our first meetings (on the post of the Prosecutor General, - ed.) began with the following – the Ambassador told me the list of the people against whom we can’t open any criminal investigation. I said that it was unacceptable. Nobody, neither the President, with all my respect, neither the Parliament, neither the Ambassador can stop me at the point where the law provides criminal proceeding…,” she cited Lutsenko.
Earlier, the list of the names of the Ukrainian politicians and public figures, which was passed to Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko by U.S. Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch, was published by MP Serhiy Melnychuk on Facebook.
There are 13 names in the list: MPs Serhiy Leshchenko, Mustafa Nayem, Svitlana Zalishchuk, Serhiy Berezenko, Serhiy Pashynsky; ex-Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk; ex-Head of the National Bank of Ukraine Valeriya Hontareva; ex-First Deputy of the National Security and Defense Council Oleg Hladkovsky; judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Makar Pasenyuk; candidate for presidency Anatoly Hrytsenko; singer Svyatoslav Vakarchuk; journalist Dmytro Hordon and ex-Head of the Presidential Administration Borys Lozhkin.
