‘DNR referendum’ organizer sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment

Druzhkivka court sentenced one of the organizers of the illegal ‘referendum’ conducted in May 2014 by the pro-Russian militants for 5 years of imprisonment. The sentence is suspended for 1 year. This was reported by the press service of the Donetsk region Prosecutor’s Office.

During the hearing it was found out that a 46 year-old resident of Druzhkivka accepted the proposal of the illegal armed forces to head a district commission in Rayske town on ‘referendum for DNR independence’.

“Being a head of the commission, the man organized the work of his subordinates stating from installing urns for voting to handing the bulletins to the terrorists,” the Prosecutor’s Office noted.

Earlier it was reported that the leader of the so-called “Luhansk People’s Republic” Ihor Plotnitsky declared he stands for holding a “referendum” to integrate to Russia.
