There is not the diphtheria epidemic in Ukraine anymore and the number of vaccines is enough. Minister of Health Zoriana Skaletska stated that during the interview with the BBC Ukraine

"We are not talking about a serious epidemic yet, but the situation with diphtheria is under the control. In the last year, we had 10 ill people and we used 141 doses of the vaccine. A few hundred were expired though. Thus, Ukraine needed 141 bottles of the anti-diphtheria vaccine," she said.

According to Skaletska, Ukraine has already got 200 bottles of serum, the additional 150 or 170 will be passed by the international organizations as the humanitarian aid. Another 100 bottles will be provided by the Embassies in case we need them.

"So we can count on 450 bottles of serum and this amount of medicines is enough," the Minister underlined.

As we reported earlier, the immunity shots against diphtheria were taken to Uzhhorod from adjacent regions as 15 students got sick with this disease, according to Zakarpattia regional health state center.
