The development of the infrastructure for bikers in the capital will be continued, as the Deputy Chairman of Kyiv City State Administration Dmytro Davtyan said, the press office reported. He also stated that in 2018 this development got a successful begging.
“We have started striping for bikers. Over the past year markers appeared on Palladin Ave., Zabolotny St., Pravdy Ave., Druzhby Narodiv Blvd., on 13 streets in total. Installation of bike lanes from Dovbuch St. to Brovarsky Ave. is planned,” he said.
Deputy Chairman added that construction of bike lanes on several Kyiv streets is scheduled for 2019.
Davtyan reminded that last year, a bike sharing project was launched.
“It is becoming a usual thing for Kyiv residents to rent and ride a bicycle. Active people who follow a healthy lifestyle like using this transport not only as a rest but also as a way to get to work. This year we want to increase the number of bicycle rental sites and attract investors. As we see it, public bicycle rental should be available in all city districts, so there should be an infrastructure. Besides, we want to set bicycle rental sites in four city districts – Obolonsky, Desnyansky, Holosiivsky and Darnytsky. This will be an investment competition. The winner company will have to accommodate the territory. Actually, we want to have 64 new objects of bicycle infrastructure till 2020, which is very ambitious yet possible,” he added.
