Ihor Kyzym, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Belarus supposed that the detention of Pavlo Sharoyko, the Ukrainian journalist in Minsk will negatively influence the Belarusian-Ukrainian relations. He claimed this during the interview as Interfax-Ukraine reported.
‘It is obvious that there is nothing good about our relations. It would be better to compare the harm inflicted by our journalist to Belarus supposedly involved in the agent network with the harm inflicted by at least one briefing of the KGB representative to our bilateral relations, including the political and every-day levels’, Kyzym claimed.
According to the ambassador, even the separate visits were postponed after this incident.
‘If we have the PACE meeting then all our MPs will be able to make the decision to limit the number of the delegation. It is possible to say that the particular officials made a decision to abstain from the trips to Belarus’, he added.
‘It will negatively influence the development of our cooperation’, he noted.
According to Kyzym, the sides should restore the confidence level that significantly fell after the incidents with Sharoyko and Pavlo Gryb. Also, he claimed that the espionage scandal with Sharoyko was provoked.
‘I am hundred percent certain. It was a special campaign to create the situation that we can observe today. It is obvious that it was planned by the Belarusian or Russian special serviced.
He also did not exclude that the detention of Sharoyko was a response to the detention of the citizen of Belarus in Chernyhiv in July 2017 and accusation of espionage for Russia.
As it was reported earlier Pavlo Sharoyko, a reporter for Ukrainian Radio, was detained in Belarus, as CEO of National Television Company of Ukraine Zurab Alasania wrote on Facebook.
Moreover, Belarus announced the advisor of Ukrainian Embassy in Minsk Ihor Skvortsov persona non-grata due to the detention of the Ukrainian Radio's special correspondent Pavlo Sharoyko.
