Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yevhen Yenin confirmed that he wrote a resignation letter, as he reported on Facebook.

“I invite all the journalists to the entrance of Prosecutor General Office at 2 pm for explaining my decision to resign,” he wrote.

In his comment for Interfax-Ukraine Yenin said that “he made a decision in favor of his principles” and stressed he was not going to enter politics after leaving his post.

In late March, Yenin canceled suspicion for the politicians involved in the criminal case on Sergiy Kurchenko. Prosecutor Kulyk said that cancellation of suspicion for Borys Lozhkin, Olexiy Filatov, Valeriya Hontareva and others was illegal.

As it was reported, prosecutor Kulyk urged Lutsenko to open a probe against Yenin. According to Kulyk, these actions let the involvants of the case, including Filatov, to leave Ukraine and influence the witnesses. Therefore, Yenin “helps Kurchenko”. It should be noted that Filatov did not leave the country except for one working trip to Brussels.
