Deputy Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine Vitaliy Nemilostiviy was dismissed after he was driving a car under the influence of alcohol and put up a fight with a police officer during the compiling of the protocol as Ukraine’s Prime Minister Denys Shmygal reported.
“Behavior of Deputy Minister for Strategic Industries Vitaliy Nemilostiviy is unacceptable. We promptly dismissed the official. The position at the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is not a privilege; first of all, it is the responsibility before people and the country,” Shmygal noted.
At the night of January 21, patrol police stopped the Mercedes car as its driver violated the traffic rules. The driver was Deputy Minister for Strategic Industries Vitaliy Nemilostiviy, as Patrol Police of Ukraine reported.
“Recently late at night at Zhylyanska Street, Kyiv patrol officers stopped Mercedes car as its driver violated the traffic rules, particularly, the demand of road sign – the entrance of road with one-way traffic. During the communication, it turned out that the driver was clearly being influenced by alcohol,” the message said.
It is noted that after the abuse was ceased, the inspectors offered the driver to undergo the examination for alcohol intoxication but he refused. Instead, the driver informed the inspectors that he is the deputy minister for strategic industries of Ukraine and provided proper certificate.
During the consideration of the administrative case for the violation of the traffic rules, the driver came to the patrol officers, threw the keys from his car to the police car and stated that he is leaving the site.
“Patrol officers gave the order to the driver to stay up; however, he did not react. Then, he started to threaten with his position, push the patrol officers and scrape their uniform. The patrol officers handcuffed the driver,” the police said.
The inspectors compiled the administrative materials toward the driver: protocol due to the driving under the influence of alcohol and regulation for the violation of the road sign and the protocol about administrative detention. All materials were sent to the court.
Vice PM Oleh Urusky reacted to the incident. According to him, the actions of Nemilostiviy are unacceptable and they disrupt the authority of representative of the executive power in the eyes of the Ukrainian people.
“Recently, the horrible event took place with Deputy Minister for Strategic Industries Vitaliy Nemilostiviy and it is tied with the blatant violation of the traffic rules by him and inappropriate behavior with the representatives of the National Police of Ukraine. His action is unacceptable and it disrupts the authority of the representative of the executive power in the eyes of the Ukrainian people. I believe that such irresponsible behavior of Vitaliy Nemilostiviy makes his further stay at the position of the deputy minister impossible. Soon, I and the government will assume all necessary staffing decisions,” Urusky noted.
If the court recognizes Nemilostiviy guilty, he faces a fine in the sum of 600 minimum non-taxable incomes with the deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a year.
As we reported, former executive director of Naftogaz-Ukraine Yuriy Vitrenko was appointed acting head of the Ministry of Energy.
