Deputy Commander of Ukrainian Ground Forces gets in car accident

Lieutenant General Serhiy Kropyvchenko, Deputy Commander for Logistics of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, was in a car accident near Mykolaiv city, the press office of the Ground Forces reported. 

The accident occurred on Mykolaiv-Blahovishchenske highway on the evening of January 11, near Sebyne settlement in Mykolaiv region.

According to local ‘Novosti-N’ newspaper, Hyundai Terracan with the license plates of the Armed Forces was directed to New Odesa from Mykolaiv. The driver of the SUV lost control over the car near Sebyne settlement and hit the Daewoo Lanos. Having hit the civil car, the Hyundai crashed into the semitrailer of the truck, which was pulled over on the sidelines.

‘A rapid response team provided medical aid to the victims, after that they were taken to a hospital. The accident happened amid a severe ice-slick. The condition of the affected is assessed as moderately severe but stable,’ reports the leadership of the Ground Forces.


According to the regional police, the 23-year-old driver of the Hyundai lost control over the car and let the collision with the Daewoo happen. A criminal proceeding was initiated against him for the traffic safety regulations violation. The driver faces a fine of 200 to 500 times the minimum non-taxable income of Ukrainians, correctional labor for up to two years, arrest for up to six months or imprisonment for up to three years with the withdrawal of driver’s licenses for up to three years.
