Defibrillators will appear in all subway stations in Kyiv by the end of the year. The press service of the Department of Transport Infrastructure of Kyiv City State Administration reported this.
“First it was planned to equip 20 metro stations with heart-starting devices, however, given the importance of the project, their number was increased to 52 today, thanks to Kyiv City Department of Health,” the message says.
In total, there are 52 subway stations in Kyiv.
A defibrillator is a device that is designed to provide emergency care in case of a sudden severe heart rhythm disorder. The device can stop cardiac arrest with an electrical impulse.
These single electrical impulses help the heart out of a state of fibrillation when groups of muscle fibers of the heart muscle contract in a fragmented and uncoordinated manner. During fibrillation, the heart loses its ability to contract, resulting in the ineffective operation of the entire organ. A person in this condition needs immediate help.
