Ukraine’s Defense Ministry will spend more than 150,5 million dollars on the construction and repair of Armed Forces objects of the in 2018. Oleksandr Cherhinets, Colonel and Deputy Director of Army’s Main Apartment Management Unit said this during the briefing, ministry’s press service reported.
“Financing increased fourfold in 2018 compared to 2017. And compared to 2014, the financing increased by 30 times – from less than 4 million to over 150 dollars,” – Cherhinets stressed.
He added that the funds will be allocated for three purposes.
Over 110 million dollars from the Defense Ministry general fund will be provided for construction, reconstruction and capital repair of the military facilities and for the construction of better barracks for the military servicemen under contract. Over 36,980 dollars of the special fund covered by the ministry due to selling the confiscated property is provided for the construction of better barracks for the contract servicemen.
In addition, 2 billion dollars from the general fund of the Defense Ministry will be provided within the program for the reconstruction of buildings into custom-built barracks for the contract soldiers.
As it was reported earlier, Defense Ministry plans to build 184 hostels for the contract military servicemen.
As it was reported earlier US Secretary of Defense James Mattis considers the law on national security of Ukraine to be a priority and calls on the authorities of the country to adopt this legislative initiative as soon as possible. In particular, the head of the Pentagon noted this during a meeting with the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak.
It is added that Mattis also noted the importance of the US-Ukraine partnership in the field of security. He praised Stepan Poltorak for the courage of the country in the face of Russian aggression and reaffirmed US support for the Ukrainian defense reform.
