Defense Minister of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak stands for stepping up the military cooperation between Ukraine and France. This was stated by the minister after his meeting with his French counterpart Sylvie Goulard, reports the government website.

During the meeting, the parties discussed security issues in Ukraine and around hoe borders and also the questions of deepening the defense cooperation between the countries.

“Cooperation between our countries has a great importance, especially in defense cooperation. Therefore, we have the opportunity to significantly increase the work between our departments,” Polorak noted.

Stepan Poltorak invited Sylvie Goulard to pay an official visit to Ukraine.

The system of integration of Ukraine’s Armed Forces to NATO through joint exercises and work in the sphere of military-industrial complex, which is already taking place, is very important for Ukraine, according to the minister.

In her turn, the French Minister of Defense noted that the French side is ready to deepen cooperation and discuss further prospects.

"We without doubt support Ukraine, because your heroic defenders in the 21st century are forced to secure the independence of the country with weapons in their hands, and this is very important," Goulard said.

Earlier it was reported that Ukraine, France intend to prevent Russia’s attempts to escalate situation in Donbas. Foreign Ministers of the countries intend to make every possible effort to normalize the situation in international security.
