Verkhovna Rada Chairman Dmytro Razumkov is convinced that the the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) does not have the authority to compile lists of oligarchs. It is reported by Interfax-Ukraine.
"I think that Mr. Danilov, as a responsible citizen, has already turned to law enforcement agencies, because the connection with the oligarchs, if they have an influence on MPs, is corruption. Moreover, I am ready to provide the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for this - well to point the finger at who is under such pressure. And if this does not happen, we may have to apologize to the MPs and the Ukrainian parliament," Razumkov said.
According to the speaker of the Ukrainian parliament, he had "correspondence and face-to-face discussions" with the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov about which body should form the list of "oligarchs". According to the head of the parliament, such measures should not belong to the powers of the National Security and Defense Council.
As it was reported earlier, on July 1, the Verkhovna Rada supported the bill on de-oligarchization in the first reading. According to the document, the decision to declare a person as an oligarch is made by the NSDC on the basis of a submission from the Cabinet of Ministers, a member of the NSDC, the National Bank of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine or the Antimonopoly Committee.
