The law enforcers detained Ihor Pavlovsky, the former assistant of lawmaker of previous convocations. He is the defendant in the case of Kateryna Handziuk on suspicion in the leading criminal organization as Ukrayinska Pravda reported citing the source at the law enforcement bodies.
“The leader of the criminal organization, the former assistant of lawmaker of previous convocations is notified on suspicion. He is detained due to article 208 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine,” the source reported.
Earlier, the former assistant of the lawmaker was notified on suspicion in Kherson. He is involved in the criminal proceeding on the investigation of the case of the murder of public activist Kateryna Handziuk.
The suspect is considered to be the organizer of the criminal organization. The indictment is considered by Prymorsky district court of Odesa with the agreement on the recognition of his guilt and concealment of the attack on Handziuk with no prior promise.
According to the police of Kherson region, the suspects committed different violent crimes and arson attacks on property.
Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) announced the possible involvement of police in departure of Olexiy Levin - organizer of the attack on Ukrainian activist Kateryna Handziuk.
On November 4, 2018, it became known that Kateryna Handziuk died at the age of 34. She was doused with sulphuric acid in July this year. According to preliminary information, her death was caused by blood clot's detachment.
Besides, the doctors specified the cause of death; it was due to multiple organ failure and chemical burns.
All the accused in case of Handziuk murder pleaded guilty. Later Pokrovsky district court in Dnipropetrovsk region has approved the agreements with the investigation team. Serhiy Torbin, Mykyta Hrabchuk, Viktor Horbunov, Vyacheslav Vyshnevsky, and Volodymyr Vasyanovych got their sentences. All were sentenced under the three articles of Criminal Code, namely 'deliberate grave bodily injury, planned and caused by the group of persons'.
