Russia’s representatives stated that the debates of Ukrainian presidential elections Volodymyr Zelensky and Petro Poroshenko will be recorded for Russian leader Vladimir Putin, as Unian reported referring to the Press Secretary of Putin Dmitry Peskov.
“We will watch it, the colleagues have not recommended the platform yet. Anyway, we will try to record it and pass to the President, maybe he will have time to watch it on the weekend. Of course, we will include it into our digests,” Peskov said.
The debate preparation process started on April 3, when Zelensky replied to Poroshenko's invitation to participate in debates and put forward his conditions. He wanted to hold debates at Olympiysky Stadium. Poroshenko’s team said, “the President does not perform at stadiums”. A few hours later Poroshenko changed his mind and agreed to participate in the debates.
On April 7, Poroshenko stated that he waited for Volodymyr Zelensky on April 14 at Olympiysky Stadium.
In his turn, Zelensky stated he wanted to hold the debates with Poroshenko on April 19 at Olympiysky Stadium.
On April 10, Olympiysky Stadium reported that it got two applications for holding debates from two presidential candidates Volodymyr Zelensky and Petro Poroshenko.
Presidential candidate Volodymyr Zelensky reported that free tickets for the fan zone at NSC Olimpiysky stadium were available. Thus, some viewers will be able to watch the debates between Zelensky and the incumbent president Petro Poroshenko on the stadium for free.
Later it was reported that Olympic NSC would not sell tickets for the debates of the presidential candidates Volodymyr Zelensky and Petro Poroshenko.
