The Chairman of the Board of Ukraine’s National Public Broadcasting Company Zurab Alasania told about the order of debates of the presidential candidates at NSC Olimpiyskiy. He published the relevant statement on his Facebook page.
“The Internal Ministry as an “assembly point” of the representatives of the candidates’ headquarters, who can’t agree among themselves on “the debates at NSC.” In the narrow sense – the question of the security of the audience and candidates, from a broader perspective – the platform for negotiations. Yes, there will be two stages. There will be two signals. Probably, there will be two streams. We planned four concerts: two before and two after the debates,” he wrote.
The representative of the National Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine noted that the headquarters agreed to:
- set the rostrums across;
- avoid using parties’ symbols;
- make performances in turns;
- divide tickets in half and each distributes his tickets;
- start concerts at 4 p.m.;
- begin debates at 7 p.m.
The headquarters did not agree on:
- the number of the questions – three or four;
- who will be the host;
- the number of outside broadcasting;
- the broadcasting for all the TV channels or each headquarter carries out its own broadcast and passes to its channels.
Denys Semenov (Poroshenko’s headquarters) and Kyrylo Tymoshenko (Zelensky headquarters) will continue negotiating on issues on phone.
Alasania also assured that both of the candidates would come to the stadium between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. He also noted that Suspilne would not participate in the organization of the debates at the stadium.
“The company continues adhering to the law and common sense: substantial debates should be held in the studio of Ukraine’s National Public Broadcasting Company on April 19 between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m.,” Alasania added.
