Five people were hospitalized after the fire at the home for elderly people in Kharkiv. One patient is in serious condition; the other four patients are in satisfactory state, as Kharkiv City Council reported.
It is stated that a 65-year-old man got 15% body burns of medium degree. Another 73-year-old man got carbon monoxide poisoning; his state is moderately severe.
An 81-year-old woman and the men at the age of 57 and 80 are in a state of shock at the palliative care unit.
According to 112 Ukraine correspondent, a man that got burns had a stroke. He is conscious now and is able to communicate with doctors.
The mayor's office promises to pay for the treatment of suffered and the burial of the deceased.
On January 21, in Kharkiv, the two-story building was caught on fire. It was reequipped for the nursing home. The tragedy resulted in the death of 15 people.
The investigators of the State Investigation Bureau of Ukraine opened the criminal case due to the neglect of duty by the Emergency Service employees, which led to the fire at the care home.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky ordered the Cabinet of Ministers to urgently create the commission to establish the reasons for a fire at the home for elderly people. Meanwhile, the Prosecutor General’s Office reported that preliminary, the fire took place due to the careless exploitation of electric heating elements.
Due to the tragedy in Kharkiv, Friday, January 22 is declared a morning day.
