Deadly car accident in Kharkiv: investigation to conduct 8 more expertizes

The police says the materials of the criminal case are to be sent to court at the end of November

About eight more expertizes are to be conducted in the case of the car accident that happened in Kharkiv on October 18, in which six people died. The information comes from the press service of Kharkiv Region Police.

In the past month, a big amount of investigative and expert examinations was conducted. Over 30 witnesses were questioned, and their testimonies studied. The investigators also studied the video from the surveillance cameras and the algorithm of the work of the traffic lights at the intersection. The materials are to be sent to the court at the end of November.

As it was reported according to the police, an SUV drove into a crowd of people in Kharkiv. Olena Zaitseva who drove a Lexus RX crashed into a Volkswagen Touareg driven by Gennady Dronov. Six people died and five more were injured as Zaitseva lost control over the car after the collision.

The version of Zaitseva's defense is that the driver of the Touareg is guilty as he moved on the yellow traffic light. The defense of Gennady Dronov denies the accusation and claims that he drove on a green light. At the moment, however, both of the drivers are kept in detention.
