“On the occasion of the Day of Defender of Ukraine, the Chief Department of the National Police in Kyiv received information from the bodies of the local authorities about planned holding of mass events in the downtown of the capital. Consequently, Kyiv police officers will patrol the streets of the city and public places intensely to prevent the violations of the public order and quarantine,” the message said.
“Before the beginning of the events, the experts of the explosive ordnance disposal team and K-9 unit hold careful check of the places where the citizens will gather, the routes of their movements and so on. In order or rapid response to possible changes of the operational environment we created extra groups of rapid response and the enhanced crime scene investigation teams will watch. Moreover, the police officers will accompany the column of partakers of the march,” Head of Kyiv Police Andriy Kryshchenko reported.
Besides, the law enforcers enhanced security at the metro stations in Kyiv.
“At the places of holding of the events, the officers of dialogue police and other profile serves will hold preventive events with the partakers of the events to prevent the conflicts and violation of the public order. The law enforcers will hold selective cursory inspections of the citizens. Due to this fact, we ask to consider such preventive measures with understanding because they are held for the security of the citizens. We urge the partakers and organizers of the events to observe the demands of the current legislation and facilitate the police officers in fulfillment of the official duties,” Kryshchenko added.
On October 14, Ukraine celebrates the Day of Defender of Ukraine. It is the day for honoring of courage and heroism of the defenders of the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. It is a holiday since 2015. Moreover, the holiday coincides with the Day of Ukrainian Cossacks and the Holy Protection.
