Curfew for children and teenagers imposed in Sumy, northeastern Ukraine

Sumy City Council has decided to introduce curfew for children under age of 16. This was reported by the City Council press service.

"It is forbidden for children under the age of 16 to stay on the streets and other public places of Sumy city from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. without the presence of one of the parents or other legal representative of the child or a person who accompanies him and bears personal responsibility for him," the statement said.

It is noted that during this period, the employees of cafes, malls and other public places have the right to demand from visitors documents confirming that they have reached 16 years of age.

The City Council explained that such a decision was made in order to prevent offenses among children and youth, as well as to prevent the use of alcohol among minors.

As it was reported earlier, on July 15, the Verkhovna Rada adopted in the second reading the bill #5122 which intends to forbid selling drugs to minors.
