On January 27, a fire broke out in the administrative building of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine in Kyiv. People were evacuated. State Emergency Service reported this.

“A fire broke out in the premises of the former Ministry of Culture on Ivana Franka Street. State Emergency Service units are working on the site. Most of the employees were evacuated, and evacuation continues,” the Ministry of Culture said on Facebook on Monday.

Later Interior Ministry reported that fire in Culture Ministry building had been extinguished.

“The fire in the administrative building of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine was extinguished, four people were rescued,” the Interior Ministry said on Facebook on Monday.

Earlier, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported that at 10:14 a smoke was spotted in a 3-story building on Ivana Franka Street, on the third floor of the ministry. Smoke appeared because of a fire in the basement of the building.

The capital’s department of the State Emergency Service said that a fire occurred in the basement in the archive room.

“At 11:03, a fire which engulfed 30 square meters, was localized,” the State Emergencies Service said.
