Criminal proceeding against C14 was not opened, - SBU

The representatives of SBU stated that they did not open a criminal proceeding concerning C14, a Ukrainian ultra-right organization, due to the detention of Rafael Lusvarghi, a Brazilian citizen. Olena Hitlyanska, SBU Spokesperson, said it, as Radio Liberty reports.

“On the application of Rybin’s lawyer, according to the court’s decision, SBU opened a criminal proceeding concerning the arrest of a foreigner by the group of unknown under the article №146 on illegal deprivation of freedom or kidnapping. Therefore, SBU did not open any criminal proceeding against C14 organization and its leaders,” she said.

According to the Spokesperson, the article №146 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code is not within SBU’s investigative jurisdiction. Therefore, the proceeding will probably be passed over to the police officers.

Earlier, Valentyn Rybin, the lawyer of Lusvarghi, who is accused of participating in the illegal armed formations, stated that SBU Central Investigation Department included the information that C14 have committed “terrorist act and kidnapping” to the Unified Registry of Pre-Trial Investigation.
