Criminal case on illegal discharge of Lviv’s waste opened in Sumy

Four trucks of garbage were dumped in a waste ground, where the farm was once located

Four trucks of garbage from Lviv region were illegally dumped in Romny district of Sumy region, and after that the unknown left. Criminal proceedings were opened under Part. 1, Art. 239 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (pollution or damage of the land). This was reported by the press service of the National Police Department in Sumy region.

"The police officers caught up with one of the cars in Poltava region. And today it was taken to the Romny Police Office. The driver of the vehicle gives explanation to investigators. Criminal proceedings started to investigate this incident, "the statement says.

During the inspection it was found out that during two days at night four trucks of garbage were dumped in a waste ground where there was once a farm. Investigators also found on the scene receipts from stores and mail envelopes with addresses that point to Lviv addresses.

The driver is a 57-year-old Lviv inhabitant. The man admitted that he really unloaded garbage in that location. He says he was fulfilling the order of his higher-ups, although he was well aware that it was illegal.

The Police put the car on a fine platform of Romny Police Department. The man was arrested, and police continues to search other persons involved in this crime.

Earlier it was reported that Lviv was sinking in garbage. The local landfill crisis let to inability to transport garbage out of city districts.
